NEW National Occupation Classification list (NOC) NOC is short for National Occupation Classification. The NOC is the authoritative resource on occupational information in Canada. It is based on wide-ranging occupational research, analysis and consultation conducted across the country, reflecting the evolution of the Canadian labor market. To do a visa application for a Skilled Worker Visa for Canada, your occupation has to be on the NOC-list. It is a list used by the government agencies and employers to classify all occupations in Canada. The following occupations are listed in Skill Type 0, and Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification List. These criteria affect you only if you applied on or after February 27, 2008. If you applied before February 27, 2008, your application will be processed according to the rules that were in effect at that time. Applicants who submitted General Skilled Workers application between 27 February 2008 and 27 November 2008 and not in the National Occupation Classification listed below will not get refuse but the application and fees paid to Canada Immigration Center (CIC) will be returned back to them.
